Key features
Easy access to the markets
A more accessible way to begin would be to invest in a unit trust. It only takes an initial investment of SGD1,000 followed by subsequent contributions as low as SGD100 per month.
Disciplined approach
One of the keys to being successful in your investment journey is to have the discipline to invest regularly. RSP helps make investments automatically on behalf of investors each month, based on their instructions. It is important to note that even with a RSP, you still maintain cash flow flexibility because you are still able to reduce or to cancel your RSP investments at any point in time that you wish.
Dollar cost averaging
Dollar cost averaging takes the emotion out of investing by having you purchase the same small amount of an asset regularly. This means you buy fewer units when prices are high and more when prices are low. Dollar cost averaging works because over the long term, asset prices tend to rise. But asset prices do not rise consistently over the near term. Instead, they run to short-term highs and lows that may not follow any predictable pattern.
